Sitiawan Bo Tien Temple - where you can make good

No 45

The old temple building
with its wooden wall structure

Temple rebuilt in 2012 as a brick wall building
and near completion. Notice the higher roofing,
brick wall, bigger doors and glass windows.
The sky backdrop is reminiscent of the teaching
by Lord Bo Tien that the sky is the roof of the temple
and all under Heaven are in the temple.
The rustic laid back countryside atmosphere
beckons all those who want quiet, solace and peace.
This surely will be prelude for better days to come

Avoiding pitfalls when trying to be good and pure?

No 44

To avoid pitfalls one has be
religiously driven to do good

Pitfalls arise when one is not spiritually driven but has personal motive for fame in trying to be pure and good. One is then no longer doing good from the heart but for face value (fame, praise and award), some call this gut value.

Do not do good for face value so that others could praise you. Do so from the heart. Love life and bear no distaste for self or for others.

Often goodness done are undeniably for personal gain and not done primarily for others benefit. Be mindful and you can learn this from lessons of life, from one's own life and from the lives of others as taught by all saints including Lord Bo Tien.

Charity must be out of love for life and not for greatness of face value to win award and recognition such as knighthood or for socio-political mileage.

For instance, charity for aged and handicap must part of and be out of the love for all lives.

It would be difficult to reconcile how one could run aged home, nursing home and community care scheme and yet not respect an elder or parent even if that elder is not a saint and may have erred. This behaviour is driven by face value and not by conviction of need to be good and pure.

Respect for elder is a precept or tenet of many religions and sects. Abide by precepts as in any religious book and for followers of the lord saint Lord Bo Tien, the precepts are found in two books.

Purity of the heart and not of the gut

No 43

Purity is not in what we eat but what is in our mind. Ji Gong the Living Buddha said, "What goes through the heart is more important than what goes through the gut"

Incidentally Ji Gong anniversary falls on 22nd May 2012
the 2nd day of the second (leap year) 4th lunar month
and normally on the 2nd day of 5th lunar month

That is the way to purify and...

No 42

.........to save souls, not only yours but others as well

Do good always, avoid evil, purify the mind.

Live life but not run from life or go for more biting off more than we can chew.

Don't forget to stave off idleness on one hand (sloth and torpor) and biting off more than we can chew on the other hand.

Then one be at peace amidst the swirls of life around and not at all perturbed by alternating calm and storms in life. Be the lotus of life above the mud and swirling water of yin and yang not away and yet not affected. This is the way of the pure ones.

The reason the lord bestow.....

... the double dragons supporting pearl phase to the mission for the doctrine or buddha phase. "Double dragons supporting pearl" is actually the pictoral presentation of harnessing and balancing the yin and yang dragons to have the pearl of divine wisdom

Lest you forget that Bro Philip....

No 40

.... in his better days did say

"Only the wise seek the fulfillment of ancient wisdom. Yet the profound truth is so simple but difficult to perceive."

That's why the Ba Gua takes centre stage........

No 39

More of how to do so via the Ba Gua Way

No 38

Run not from life nor go for all. Strike that balance and more to gain. Peace within even with any trigram combination of yin and yang as in the Ba Gua

Yin yang balance is the way

No 37

You need to see the doctrine in the image of a saint. He who knows the doctrine knows and sees the saint.
Balancing the yin and yang, that is,
the contingencies of life like gain loss, praise blame
as depicted by the feet on the elements is the answer
so that one can have peace come what may
This is easier said than done but do we must

How to be a saint

No 36

See through life and a saint you will be - 看得开,就是佛...

You too can make it

No 35

You too can make it and be a saint or a pure one like the Buddha  under the tree of life. Cheers

Have no guilt and fear

No 34

Do not cruxify yourself and be full of guilt for fear and guilt may dampen you further. There is no need to cruxify yourself and be guilt laden for saints like Jesus had taken the onus to take on the problems and mistakes of men and offer solace to men so that they could focus on being good and pure, not feel guilt ridden and cruxified

Have no fear and guilt. Lord Bo Tien wants us
to know through his 1975 mission day message

Be yourself

No 33

And light up your life like a candle and help to light up others lives as well, if you can. Remember a collection of persons like candles can better light up their own lives and the lives of others. This Lord Bo Tien in his 1975 mission day message did say and will always say so to us

Be benevolent

No 32

and forgive others wrong and do not make others fear you
like King Yama who will always try to encourage the newly departed to think of some good they have done or would sincerely want to do so that they need not be in Hell or could leave Hell

Be of service and worthy of gratitude

What the lord saint wants all to know

No 24

"The mission is like the great ocean that reaches out to many a land to touch the lives of many a man. Like the ocean unaffected by the debris from land, the mission too will be unaffected by the issues of men.  No amount of human problems will sully the mission. Problems big or small will be no problems" Lord Bo Tien.

Isn't this cause to smile. Smile and the world will smile with you.

The lord saint will be smiling too

The lord saint will be smiling too

NAMO BO TIEN POSAT

And Brother David Tay....

No 22

And Bro David Tay President Incumbent of Singapore connection will surely agree. He is smiling for the camera right now

Mind you he is an elder
but he is young at heart and
would rather we call him brother

and you can celebrate.....

No 21

and you can celebrate along the way, never mind the hiccups and the heartaches, not forgetting the relationship problems of fellow brethren they say. One smile and perhaps even a hug and a kiss on the cheek, you will hug and kiss away the problems of men.

Let the flags fly

and be always mission ready and on the go. If Elder Ling can do it, you too can do it if you want and if you care.

and you can...... (go to No 21)

Elder Ling, what is he up to at age 76 ?

No 19

As of 15th May 2012, Elder Ling at 76 is not satisfied and say that mission wise, more must be done. He has been to Sitiawan almost monthly for the last four months. What was he up to and what next? More good or will there be more problems in the offing?  But judging by track records, there are more goodies to come up north of Singapore at Sitiawan, Perak. He is someone who is stubborn as a mule and an unpolished diamond for the Mission. This was as said by Lord Bo Tien. Would you agree? He would always want his way and certainly had his way. The mission will not be as good and in one piece without him

Like it or not, he is after all
the unpolished diamond
of the Mission

There is more to it than meet the eye. Do be careful and be on the lookout for more good to come from one like him

The book in year 2010?

No 18

More to it than meet the eye, not just surmising the obvious. A good book attempt by Chris and C.K.Tay et al. A good attempt and foray into the doctrine phase of the Mission

The book of messages

No 17

This book edited by Bro Peter Kong in year 2000 when the late Snr Bro P. Philip was around and not yet over the hill. It contains all the anniversary or mission day messages of Lord Bo Tien and more as well..... Curious then contact Bro Peter for a copy

The first booklet

No 16

The very first booklet in 1974 by anonymous writer but the secret is out of the bag. He was a young doctor then just graduated from University of Singapore. Why was he there and what was he up to? God knows even if you don't..........

Notice the logo and the three rings.
Why the flame on the lotus?
What are the three entities that overlap
to make the organisation tick?

The overlapping of rings is indeed poignant of need for harmony through consensus and cooperation even if many do not see eye to eye with one another. After all they serve the same God and the same saints though differing in experiences and convictions

The ultimate temple

No 15

The ultimate temple or church is the universal temple with the sky or Heaven as the roof and all under Heaven is in the temple. The architecture of Bo Tien Temple Singapore with sky roof dome is reminiscent of this universal temple. Such a temple or church should open its doors to all even those of differing views and approaches. Elder Ling is very aware of this and accommodated all factions and diverse sectors from day one when the story unfurl beautifully but like what Lord Bo Tien said the Mission will have to undergo its third obstacle after having undergone two others - that of baptism of fire and (water) flood. The third test is the human obstacle -- of human problems. Then the mission will grow and spread like the ocean to many a land.  If one group or temple fail, other groups or temples will sprout forth. There is the Sitiawan Bo Tien Temple, up north of Singapore at Perak where the simple folks are devout and ready for the go. The Internet is an open place and can reach to many a land and many a heart. Living Life Series is the other temple and is closer to the concept of the universal temple of Heaven --- the ultimate temple or church.

The concrete temple

No 12

The majestic concrete temple bellies the importance of having concrete people at the helm to further the Mission of Heaven which is to save souls and this must go far beyond charitable welfare activities. This is the step in the right direction
